Students and Faculty: Expressions of Interest: Student Summit on Food Security
The Farmland Defence League of BC is sponsoring a Student Summit on Food Security and invites interested students or faculty from any post-secondary institution in the province to get involved.
It will be a student-driven event involving students from across faculties and throughout the province. Students will meet in regional/community hubs and will connect with peers around the province by web conference.
Specifics, including timing and itinerary, have yet to be determined. At the moment we are trying to identify interest.
If this is something you would be interested in, please EMAIL donnapassmore7@gmail.com with:
Your full contact information, including the institution & faculty of your studies and the area of food security that you are interested in.
We currently have no one on board from SFU, Douglas College, BCIT, Langara College, UNBC, Royal Roads University, Malaspina University College, Thompson Rivers University, Okanagan University College, College of New Caledonia, Institute of Indigenous Government, Selkirk College, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, and Northern Lights College.
I would also like to hear from students and faculty in health services (including dietetics) and social work.
And while we're not specifically targeting them, I would love to hear of interest from students at any of the theology schools --- as the global food security crisis moves ever closer to home and affects economic access to food, the faith communities will inevitably become involved.
If you are in a field of study that I haven't specifically named, but you are interested in this subject, please contact us. If I haven't included your study area, it's just because I didn't think of it.
