Bike To School Week BC - May 31st to June 4th
Bike To School Week: May 31 to June 4, 2010
Bike to School Week
encourages students and school staff to try biking to school, and
celebrates with those who already do. Cycling is a great way to increase
personal and environmental health, cut down on transportation
emissions, and have some fun on your way to and from school.
This
year, in addition to partnering with iGo in the Okanagan
and the VACC in
Metro Vancouver, HASTE is working to bring Bike to School Week
to schools all across BC. Our new Campaign Tracker tool will allow
classes, teams and whole schools to record their efforts during the
event - joining a province-wide campaign to reduce emissions and have
fun!
Teachers
and students leaders can sign up their schools to participate through
the HASTE
website. There you'll find ideas for organizing and promoting Bike
to School Week at your school, along with resources to support and
encourage cyclists.
We'll
be running free online workshops to show you how to use the online
registration and tracking system - one on Tuesday, May 25th
and another on Tuesday, June 1st. Sign up for a webinar, or just visit the
website for ideas on how to celebrate Bike to School week in your
community.
If you're in the Metro Vancouver area, come out to the VACC's Bike to School
Week workshop on May 26th at the Vancouver School Board office.
